What Clacky does
Clacky is a Chrome extension that plays a keyboard sound when you press a key. To do that it listens for key presses on the pages you visit. It only looks at which physical key was pressed (for example "a letter key" or "the space bar") to pick a sound. It does not read, record, store or transmit what you type.
Data we collect
None. Clacky has no analytics, no telemetry and no accounts. It makes no network requests while you type.
Data stored on your device
Your on/off setting, volume, free-trial word count and (after purchase) your licence key are saved with Chrome's built-in extension storage. If you are signed into Chrome, Chrome may sync these to your other devices. Nothing else is stored.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. When you buy, Dodo processes your payment and issues a licence key; their privacy policy applies to that transaction. Clacky contacts Dodo only to activate or verify your licence key. We never see your payment details.
Permissions
- Read and change data on websites — required to hear key presses and play sound on any page. Clacky does not read or modify page content.
- Storage — to save your settings.
